About Helping Hands Ministry
The Helping Hands Story
In 1994 a kind hearted person with ties to a food pantry started dropping off food at the doorstep of a local pastor whose child was undergoing cancer treatments. That kindness and much needed assistance planted a seed, and a year and a half later the pastor's church started a food closet.
Before long, a couple of church members suggested they apply to become a partner with Second Harvest Food Bank, which they did.
After being affiliated first with Lighthouse Assemblies of God and later with Grace Church, today Helping Hands High Point, Inc. has become it's own seperate 501(c)(3) non profit and has grown into the largest food pantry in the High Point area.
As a non profit, we depend entirely on the generosity and support of our community, foundations, and corporations who believe in our goals and are willing to help fund our programs. Our ministry is to help feed folks in need, offer emergency assistance, and we strive to improve the health and well-being of those in need.
